I'm thrilled to be your student's fifth grade math and science teacher this year at Peirce. After several years as a social worker in the city of Chicago, I realized I could make the biggest impact on the youth of our city by teaching. I then pursued my Masters degree in Education at The University of Chicago. I am now beginning my 7th year of teaching in Chicago Public Schools and my second year at Peirce. Growing up in a small town on the coast of California has given me a true appreciation for the beauty of the natural world and the power of a strong community - two things I value greatly in the classroom. When I moved to Chicago in 2008 I fell in love with the city and its vibrant culture. Outside of school you can find me spending time with my growing family, cooking, exploring new restaurants, reading on the beach or by a fire, playing tennis, and traveling.

There is so much excitement approaching us as we think about new teachers and students to meet, new books to read, new activities and concepts to master, etc… and I look forward to sharing in all of these exciting times.
As a parent myself, I know that your pride and joy is entering my classroom everyday and I thank you for allowing me this wonderful opportunity to be their teacher. I promise to give my very all to teach, inspire, motivate, and encourage your child. We need to work together as a team! “It's a parents enthusiasm, support and involvement that inspire children to do their best; and a teacher's ability to teach what they need to learn. Together we can achieve wonderful things.” Email: [email protected] Website: peirceroom324.weebly.com |
I was born and raised in Detroit. I moved to Chicago for college and decided to stay. I hold a Bachelors of Arts in Comparative Human Development and a Masters in Teaching from the University of Chicago. This will be my 2nd year at Peirce and my 6th year teaching in Chicago Public Schools.
As a kid, I loved to read and write and I still do. I also love to go to the movies, travel, learn about new languages and cultures, run, and practice wellness through yoga and meditation. In my spare time you might catch me running along the lake shore, playing with my dog Pearson, or sitting down to brunch with friends. I am very excited to be a part of Peirce's learning community to collaboratively guide your child to deeper learning and well-being. Email: [email protected] |

Mr. CallerstromSpecial Education Teacher |
Hello! My name is Mr. Callerstrom and this will be my 2nd year at Peirce as a Diverse Learner co-teacher in 5th grade. Before coming to Peirce, I was a Special Education Resource Teacher in Minneapolis Public Schools for 2 years.
I was born and raised in Minneapolis, and got my BA from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities, my MEd from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and my Special Education licensure from the University of St. Thomas. Working in Special Education runs in my family; my Mom has been a Special Education teacher's assistant for over 30 years and my twin sister is a Special Education teacher as well. The 5th grade team works hard to ensure that our classrooms are truly a community. Restorative Practices are used daily, and students are encouraged to take leadership roles in both their academics and in their Social-Emotional learning. Students from every culture, level of exceptionality, and gender feel welcomed and positively challenged. I embrace family involvement, and look forward to working with you to create an amazing school year for your student. If you have any questions, please reach out to me through e-mail. Mr. ChudobaEnglish Language Arts & Social Studies Teacher |
My name is Nicolás Chudoba. I am of Spanish descent, but I grew up mostly in Oak Park, where I attended elementary school through high school. I am fluent in Spanish and English. This will be my third year teaching in the United States, the last two years I taught 5th and 6th grade at a bilingual school in Milwaukee. The three years before that I taught in Madrid. My major is English Literature, but I have a masters degree in Education as well. In the past I have also worked for Teach for America and the Instituto Cervantes of Chicago. I love watching and playing sports, in particular soccer. I also enjoy reading or going on bike rides through the forest in my spare time, as well as spending lots of time by the lake. Student success is my top priority. I strive to create a classroom environment that is geared towards academic and personal growth, but is also a place where students can feel comfortable and create lasting memories to look back on with a smile.
